The Idea
Let sound suggest a world beyond the frame.
The visible frame is smaller than the world a soundtrack can suggest. Footsteps beyond a door, distant traffic or a nearby appliance can extend space without showing its source. Offscreen sound can orient us, misdirect us or remain uncertain. Decide what the listener should believe is nearby, far away, continuous or approaching.
Build from relationships rather than a pile of effects. A sound's level, tone, timing and surrounding ambience influence perceived distance, but no single adjustment guarantees a location. An unseen source may be ambiguous. Use that deliberately and avoid writing a precise geography the track cannot support. Record harmless sounds yourself or use assets with permission and keep their source notes.

Build a 30–45-second local sequence using up to four sound layers and one original still or your own short video. Include an approach, interruption or departure outside the frame. Submit a 250–350-word cue sheet and comparison after changing one cue's timing or level. List asset origins.

AI Lab
Ask AI to propose two interpretations of the written cue sequence. It cannot confirm perceived distance or sound quality without hearing supported media. Test one suggested timing change locally. If synthetic sound is used, label it and avoid imitating a recognizable person's voice without permission.
